Landscaping & Hardscaping in Claymont, DE
In Claymont, Delaware a couple recently moved into their new home and it definitely had a lot of potential. We took the extra time on the initial phone call with this client because they had so many new plans and ideas for renovating the unmaintained look of the property. When we came out for the consultation we quickly realized there was quite a bit of improvements that were way overdue.
With the help of the client we were able to map out a transformation over a two year period while having Pro Image Landscaping take care of the lawn and landscape maintenance during that time period.

Adding a Paver Walkway
Some of the top priorities for the client were the lawn area, which was thin and weedy from lack of sunlight and it also was causing root rot in the backyard due to improper drainage. The concrete walkway to the main entrance was cracked and chipping so we made plans for a simple, yet maintenance free, concrete paver walkway.
Landscape Maintenance with Drip Irrigation
Additionally, the landscaping in the front of the house was awful, the shrubbery was sparse and barely flowered each year. The problem with the plant material in the front was that they were not well suited to be in the sunny and dry conditions next to the foundation of the house. The overhang on the rooftop was preventing water from reaching the plants, so we installed the new landscape with drip irrigation to keep the new plants healthy.
The second year of renovation included the addition of a small backyard outdoor patio and sodding for the backyard landscape. The plan for the patio was simple yet functional. The patio dimensions are about 20 feet by 15 feet. This is only 300 square feet but with proper designing it can easily accommodate the use for a family of four. Larger patios are usually built larger with entertaining in mind. Techo-Bloc wall and pavers in a shale grey color were chosen for their natural earthy tones.
The patio construction needed to be done before the sod installation, since the lawn area was going to be damaged during construction.
Now that the patio was complete, there were a few small trees we had to remove to let enough light in to grow the sod properly. To prepare the backyard for sod, we stripped off the rest of the undamaged turf and installed and graded 16 yards of premium topsoil. Starter fertilizer and lime were applied to correct the soil pH and give the sod roots a great start. Now all that is left for the customer to do is water the sod daily for a few weeks and as you can see it turned out beautifully!
