Koi Pond with a Small Waterfall
In Kennett Square, PA., Pro Image Landscaping were hired to install a simple yet affordable koi pond with a small waterfall. The initial meeting with the client was a familiar one. Pro Image Landscaping has completed the last few years of this client's landscaping and hardscaping project installations. So the client was familiar with our easy design process.
Choosing the Landscape Design and the Pond and Waterfall
They came to us with many different ideas for the pond, waterfall and surrounding landscape. From working with Pro Image on past projects our client knew they had homework to do. Before we even started the design, the client provided us with many photos of what they liked and what they didn't like to be included in the landscaping, pond and waterfall project.
Deciding on the Location and adding a Flagstone Border
After a few hours of consultation on the project, our landscape designer came up with a small to medium sized pond with a small waterfall. The location was a little difficult to figure out, so we both decided there was a nook in the year backyard near the privacy hedgerow that would be perfect for the build location. A large heavy flagstone border was added to give shade and shelter for the fish and a place for children to sit and feed the fish. No concrete pavers or man made materials were used because the client wanted a natural look and feel.
Landscape Plants & Pond Lighting by Pro Image
We went with perennials and water lilies for low maintenance for the landscape plantings. Underwater pond lighting was added for free to our client as a bonus, (they weren't aware of this until the end of the project). The large boulders were used as decorative sitting accents.
A Japanese cutleaf maple was used in the landscape because of it's slow growing habit and beautiful red leaves. So the end result for this project was an affordable and low maintenance pond and landscape nook that the family but mostly the children use all the time. You can guess what the customers reaction was to the lighting…WOW!
