Landscape Design – Front Yard Landscaping Hockessin, DE
In Hockessin, Delaware Pro Image Landscaping was hired to do a hardscape and landscape installation on a new home construction site. The home was a few years old but none of the landscaping from the builder was suitable for the client.
The original landscaping was literally thrown-in (the burlap was still surrounding the root ball), and it was dying a slow death. As we discussed with the client their long term plans for the home, it was apparent they wouldn't be able to complete the entire project we had designed. So, we broke the master landscape design plan into affordable segments that made sure we were not going to damage what was next on the plan. Consideration for the future landscaping or hardscaping projects were a must during the installation process.
Front Yard Landscaping With a Dry Stack Retaining Wall
The most prominent feature of the front yard landscaping was a dry stack flagstone retaining wall. It's purpose was to create a beautiful façade of natural stone and raise the planting bed so the landscaping was visible from the curb or street. A crepe myrtle was chosen as the landscaping centerpiece, with surrounding evergreens and perennials to have color bursts all season long.
Professional and Low Maintenance Landscaping
Low maintenance landscaping was another request from the client. As with most of us, we all have busy schedules, so the last thing a client wants to have to do with their landscaping is to be manicuring it throughout the whole weekend without any time for themselves. WHO WANTS THAT?- NO ONE.
Three Rules for Landscape Design
Pro Image Landscaping designers use these three rules as a general rule of thumb for beautiful landscape results:
- The first rule of thumb is simplicity. Have you ever seen landscaping bunched together or a tree that grows that grows too close to the house? Proper plant spacing is important so by the time the landscape matures the plants will have space to maintain and care for them without it being a struggle.
- The second attribute Pro Image Landscaping employs is color. Choosing plants that have different bloom times throughout the year creates visual interest in the landscape from Spring to Fall.
- The third attribute is low maintenance. Whenever possible we use plants that have a minimal maintenance habit or slow growth rate. Using all three characteristics in our landscape design process ensures years of beauty and enjoyment without a lot of maintenance.
