Hardscape Project – Paver Patio & Retaining Wall, Montchanin, DE
Pro Image Landscaping were referred to this customer in Montchanin, Delaware, through a co-worker we had done a similar hardscape project for. The home already had a paver walkway and patio done about 10 years ago, but the contractor that did the job was not as experienced and didn't get the installation done correctly. He went out of business and so did the customers warranty.
We service Wilmington, Newark and Hockessin Delaware as well as Garnet Valley, West Chester, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square Pennsylvania and neighboring cities in DE, PA.
We Suggested a Retaining Wall
Low lying areas next to the house from the concrete pavers settling was the main concern for the homeowner. During the initial consultation, I had pointed out that since the whole front yard sloped towards the front of the house, a retaining wall would definitely be an asset to combat the water flow towards the house.
As we assesed the rest of the paver patio project, we realized some additional drains and water management needed to be integrated for long term success with this design. The paver base of the project had to include a small swail for the water to runoff properly.
We Also Added a Raised Patio
In addition to repairing the old hardscaping, the customer wanted to do a small raised patio next to the side of the house where the kitchen was renovated. This would allow for morning coffee chats and a private space for the customers to enjoy the patio with privacy as a concern.
We Can Even Do Sloped Yards
Sloped yards are more of a challenge to design because of all the water factors and grade changes that are prevalent. After the project was in the final days of construction, the client approached me and the crew members to thank us for putting so much effort and hard work into the actual installation. She said "I never saw a contractor so dedicated to his work". We smiled and said our thank you's, but little did she know that all Pro Image Landscaping customers receive the same level of consistent quality work.
The consumer learned a valuable lesson - Do your homework when choosing a landscape contractor. All of them are not the same and cheaper is definitely not better.
