Hardscape Project with an Outdoor Paver Patio in Hockessin, DE
We must say that the process of designing, planning and building a hardscape project is very satisfying for our company. The ability to take someone's vision and help them to design and build what they dream about is very rewarding to us. Especially when our clients have a big smile on their faces during our final walkthrough when the projects are completed.
We recently completed a hardscaping project at a home located in Hockessin, Delaware. During our client consultation, we listened to the homeowners' ideas and how they express what they envision or would like to see for their outdoor paver patio project. When I met with the clients during our consultation they had a basic idea of what they wanted, it just took a little extra tweaking for us to come up with a design that would be functional as well as to provide separate areas for a spa, cooking and entertaining.
We service Wilmington, Newark and Hockessin Delaware as well as Garnet Valley, West Chester, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square Pennsylvania and neighboring cities in DE, PA.
Hardscape Patio Design
One of the challenges we faced with the design was with an overhead deck that had steps coming down on an area of the patio. We decided it would be unusable for patio space. So we filled the area with river rock to blend in with the colors of the home and paver materials. They decided to go with Techo-Bloc Mini-Creta 3" and 6" combination which will give a random mosaic look to the walls. The flooring for the patio was Techo-Bloc Blu 60mm in autumn red and slate grey for the sitting walls.
We Also Added a Walkway & Steps with Flagstone Treads
In the front yard we also added a pair of steps trimmed with flagstone treads and used as a border on the landing. A walkway was also added to make way for a new landscape the client was going to install later. The final touch of integrating an all LED low voltage lighting system made this patio a gorgeous place to relax at night.
Natural Stone Pavers Such As Clay Brick or Flagstone Style Slabs
In 2015, the new trends in hardscaping products are moving to more of a natural stone look and earthy tones. The professional designs are becoming more artistic with combinations such as clay brick, flagstone style slabs and a great selection of new paver styles available now.
Popular Trends for Paver Patios like Fireplaces or Water Features
Accents of color throughout the design make a big difference when you compare to the old boring look of traditional paver patios. Instead of retaining block sitting walls we are getting more requests to integrate veneered stone walls which can look fantastic contrasted against a floor of slab style pavers or clay brick.
The other trend that is very popular right now is the pre-built outdoor hardscape features such as fireplaces, pond less water features, pergolas and arbors. The possibilities are as beautiful as they are endless.
