Hardscape Project of a Paver Patio in Newark, DE
A Paver Patio to Enjoy the Outdoors
Great things do come in small packages! That was the case for our paver patio customer in Newark, Delaware who had a small townhouse backyard. After finally retiring from her job, our client wanted her home to be a place where she and the family can enjoy the outdoors without any grass to cut or maintenance to do every week. When we initially met for the consultation, I thought this would be a small backyard paver patio project and nothing less, but I was so wrong.
We service Wilmington, Newark and Hockessin Delaware as well as Garnet Valley, West Chester, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square Pennsylvania and neighboring cities in DE, PA.
Creating a Nice Outdoor Living Space While Staying Within Your Budget!
Our client also had a budget of under $20k, and I knew that would be enough to cover all the costs of her outdoor living space. She wanted to build the patio to cover the entire backyard except for an area where a shed would be installed for outdoor storage. We went through many photos and explained the options she wanted to incorporate into the design. The original decking steps were still there and had to be removed. We installed a new vinyl and composite staircase with a red wine colored composite wood. All the components of the outdoor space had a complimenting color scheme which worked out great and made everything beautiful.
Adding a Pergola to the Patio Made the Space Look Awesome
The basic design of the patio was meant to cover the entire backyard while adding amenities like sitting walls on both sides of the patio that had LED lights installed under the bullnose caps for a night time ambient glow. A pergola would be installed in the middle of the patio which would be the main sitting area. A pergola can cool off the area by up to 20 degrees. They also have a shade awning option for the hottest days.
Check Out These LED Lighting Pavers...
We also wanted to make a lower level for the fire pit and bistro table spaces for relaxing. We tried out a new LED lighting paver which was finished in a clear glass block. No wires or cables, it is made with a rechargeable battery in the housing. They sit in the sun all day long gathering power for the battery. At dusk they automatically turn on and turn off at dawn. We placed them at points of interest as you can see in the photo. Just a little outdoor LED lighting goes a long way, you don't want it to look like a landing strip
Paver Patio Installation For ANY Situation!
This was also one of our most challenging jobs we have come across in a while. The access to the backyard was horrible. The building behind the townhomes was not accessible and the only way in the backyard was a three foot opening where all the utilities were located. Our crew came up with a solution by using a large and small skid steer to transfer materials into the backyard. This saved us many man hours and hard labor on our crews. The installation went quickly after we figured out the access. We had a lot of the neighbors come by and see what our crews were building and by the end of the paver patio installation we had exceeding everyone's expectations, most importantly our customer.
