Landscape Maintenance Wilmington Delaware
West End Neighborhood Community Program
The West End Neighborhood House located on Lincoln Street in the city of Wilmington, De. is a program for residents of the state. They have been helping community families with employment training, job placement, GED, education, and affordable child care for the past 130 years. The foster care program for unplaced teens is by far our favorite part of this community program. For the last few years most of the staff would keep up with the properties but the demand for their services from needy families is needed more than ever. In 2013 they helped over 9,000 people and families.
We were asked to take over the Property Maintenance
So when the property manager gave us a call to come out for a consultation to take over the landscape maintenance at the Wilmington location we were more than happy to take on the property maintenance. We believe in helping our community whenever we can and this was a perfect opportunity for us.
We service Wilmington, Claymont, Newark and Hockessin Delaware as well as Garnet Valley, West Chester, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square Pennsylvania and neighboring cities in DE, PA.
Extra Care was taken to Beautify the Landscape
Recent landscaping and hardscaping updates were done to the newly constructed Lincoln Street row homes. When the homes were first constructed, front, back and sides of the facility had all lawn and no landscaping.
The front and sides of all the town homes were stripped of all existing lawn areas. The landscape was designed with beautiful day lilies in orange and yellow. Evergreen shrubbery along the foundation and crepe myrtle ornamental trees along the far sidewalk area designated for the city’s trees. Additionally a hardscaping memorial with seating space and a decorative landscape retaining wall were also added and installed on the corner lot.
Seasonal Landscape Maintenance
The seasonal landscape maintenance consists of two rows of town homes which includes the newly built housing units along Lincoln Street. The Spring consists of a very thorough cleanup of winter leaves and debris accumulated over the winter months. The landscape beds are weeded and a weed pre-emergent is applied to prevent weeds from germinating. We have found this to reduce our weeding labor time by at least 75%. All the shrubbery and small ornamental trees are pruned. The landscape beds are redefined and a 2” thick layer of our premium fine shredded dark coffee colored mulch are applied to the gardens.
Routine Lawn Care
We visit the site every other week to perform the regular lawn care and other maintenance tasks such as weeding the beds, spraying weeds growing in unwanted concrete areas and removing all the trash and debris off site. We are proud to be part of such a great community service program and hope to continue for years to come.
